Volbeat — Michael Poulsen (vocals, guitar), Jon Larsen (drums), and Kaspar Boye Larsen (bass) — are pleased to announce the release of their ninth album, "God Of Angels Trust," which will be released on June 6th via their long-time label, Vertigo/Universal. Pre-orders are available now – order here.

The new album will be released during the "Greatest Of All Tours Worldwide" tour. The full list of dates is below, and more shows will be announced soon.

Today, the band shares the first track, "By a Monster’s Hand," from the album "God of Angels Trust," along with a music video. The track is a riff-filled, mid-tempo composition that breaks standard time signatures, combining powerful, pulsating rhythms with catchy melodies. Watch the music video, which shows Volbeat in their most natural environment — on stage, among a crowd of fans, interspersed with an image of a mysterious, sinister, yet familiar face, here.

The clip was produced by Ghost Atomic and directed by Adam Rothlein — the same creative team that worked on Volbeat's music videos for "Shotgun Blues," "Die To Live," and "Leviathan."

On "God Of Angels Trust," the Danish group — who have 10 #1 hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, a record for a non-North American band — completely broke with convention, rejecting the traditional approach to songwriting to create something direct and full of energy.

The end result will delight both long-time Volbeat fans and those discovering their music for the first time.

"In the past, I used to spend a lot of time composing, analyzing every detail before finishing the songs," says Poulsen. "This time, I wanted to create a Volbeat album without overthinking it. I told myself: 'There are no rules. I can do whatever I want. I can start with a chorus or create a song made up entirely of layered verses. Anything is possible.' It was liberating for me and made the creative process exciting."

This newfound sense of freedom can be heard throughout "God Of Angels Trust"—a dynamic, powerful album that retains the essence of Volbeat while exploring new, fresh sonic directions.

Driven by both the desire to create a new Volbeat album and the need to avoid formulas, Poulsen wrote songs for three weeks with Jon and Kaspar. A new song was created every day of rehearsal! After three weeks, the band had half the album ready to record.

Then Poulsen decided, "Since there are no rules, I can follow wherever inspiration leads me." The band continued writing, creating two songs a week, but started adding more classic rock elements.

In September 2024, Volbeat entered the studio, once again collaborating with long-time producer Jacob Hansen. Poulsen wanted the recordings to be fast and intuitive, so the band simply plugged into their amps and started playing.

To maintain a natural and raw feel, the band recorded the album live in the studio, performing as few takes as possible for each song.

When it came to the solo parts, there was no doubt the band would invite Flemming C. Lund, who tours with Volbeat and collaborated with Michael on Asinhell. Just 13 days after entering the studio, the album was finished.

The fact that Volbeat wrote and recorded an entire album in just five weeks is impressive. What's even more astonishing is that "God Of Angels Trust" sounds as polished and complex as if it had been in the works for ten times longer.

"In a way, we've come full circle," explains Poulsen. "Regarding the surgeries, lineup changes, and many other things, I now feel like we're experiencing a rebirth. I don't feel like this is our ninth studio album; I feel like we're recording our first album all over again. And that is truly refreshing."
