Mogwai was formed in Glasgow in 1995. The band consists of Stuart Braithwaite (guitar, vocals), Barry Burns (guitar, piano, synthesizer, vocals), Dominic Aitchison (bass guitar), and Martin Bulloch (drums). Since 1997, they have released ten studio albums, and their 2021 record, As The Love Continues, achieved both commercial and critical success – it reached number one on the Official UK Albums Chart, was nominated for the Mercury Prize, and won the Scottish Album of the Year award.
The band has also created music for projects produced by Amazon Prime and Apple TV+. At the beginning of this year, it was announced that Blazing Griffin, Adler Entertainment, Rock Action Records, and Screen Scotland had completed post-production on Mogwai: If The Stars Had A Sound – the first feature-length documentary about the band, directed by their long-time collaborator Antony Crook. The film's world premiere took place in March 2024 at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas, and it is currently being shown at film festivals worldwide.
Mogwai have recently returned to the studio, where they are recording new music.
