Archive is a London-based music collective known for its rich sonic landscapes, constant genre evolution, and uncompromising artistic vision. The project was formed in 1994 by Darius Keeler and Danny Griffiths, former members of the pioneering drum & bass group Genaside II. They made their debut in 1996 with the critically acclaimed album Londinium, blending trip-hop, rap, and orchestral elements.

Over the following two decades, Archive became renowned for continually redefining their sound — moving fluidly between progressive rock, electronic music, soul, and post-rock. The album Take My Head (1999) introduced a more melodic direction, while the epic You All Look the Same to Me (2002), featuring the 16-minute track “Again,” opened entirely new horizons for the band.

Their massive success in France and across Europe led to numerous projects, including composing the soundtrack for Luc Besson’s film Michel Vaillant. Subsequent releases such as Noise (2004), Lights (2006), and the politically charged series Controlling Crowds (2009) further cemented their reputation.

Later albums — With Us Until You’re Dead (2012), Axiom (2014), Restriction (2015), and The False Foundation(2016) — pushed their artistic boundaries even further. Axiom was even accompanied by a dystopian film that premiered at Sundance London.

Archive are also celebrated for their spectacular live performances, which reinforce their reputation as true innovators. After more than 25 years of fearless experimentation, the collective continues to evolve, creating music that resonates deeply with their emotionally and intellectually devoted international audience.
